Back in the USSR

Hey guys!

I traveled to the lovely city of Moscow a few weeks ago. The purpose of the visit was a contest called Knowledge Bowl, which consists of people answering random trivia questions. It was my first time in Moscow, but my second time in Russia. ( I went to Saint Petersburg for the annual SPIMUN conference two years ago.) The contest was hosted by the Anglo- American School of Moscow and two of the school's teams came in second and third. Unsurprisingly, the competition was won by the Vienna school's Team A.    ( You could just tell that they were amazing, and my team had to go against them twice unfortunately.) Team A is the term used to designate a school's strongest team. I was a part of our school's team A as well, but coming from a very small school, TIS teams lack the competition and human resources to be better. I think that this was one of the few times where I've legitimately made some friends on a CEESA event. We stayed quite a bit with Moscow's Team B members. :) All in all, Moscow is a beautiful city with amazing architecture and culture. I hope I get to visit it again sometime!

Until next time,

Land of the Aussies

Hey guys! :)

As some of you may know, I spent the majority of my winter break in Australia. The weather was excellent, except for Christmas Day in Sydney, where it was cold and rainy. We spent 3 days in Sydney and 4 days in Adelaide visiting some friends. Australia was pretty awesome, and I had the chance to work on my tan a bit :P Overall, I think it was a well-spent break.

Love,
J

Singapore: Day 1

I spent the first day of the trip in Singapore. Since we didn't stay there for very long, we took a night tour around the city. It was a fascinating city where both the modern world and the Asian cultural tradition blend very well. After going to the Sands Skypark in Singapore, we took a boat ride around the city.
I should probably put up some pictures from Australia soon. Until then, enjoy these ones from Singapore.

G'day Mate! - Quick Update

Hey guys,

I haven't had the chance to update in a while, because I've been out of the country. I'm tired and jet-lagged and I have a fever. I came back yesterday, after spending 2 weeks in Australia and Singapore. I had a wonderful time, but a hectic one at that. I had to balance applying to universities with doing touristy things in Singapore, Sydney and Adelaide. I'll soon upload some of the pictures I took. Happy belated holidays! I hope they've been great and I wish you most of all lots of happiness during 2013. This is a big year for me, but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to graduate from high school, go to university, move to a new country. Scary, but exciting. The next big adventure I guess. I'd love to hear about your holidays.

Lots of Love,
J
